The merge math
If two tools create the next tier, moving up n tiers requires 2ⁿ copies of your current tool. This grows quickly, which is why the homepage calculator caps plans at tier 30.

Use the strongest tool, preserve the next pair
Equip the highest completed merge for active digging. Keep lower duplicates only when they have a clear job in the next merge chain; random inventory is not a strategy.
What a real tier list still needs
A trustworthy pickaxe list needs the in-game name, tier, shown power, acquisition source, update version, and a dated screenshot. Until those fields can be checked, this site ranks merge positions—not invented item names or damage.
